SURKHET: An accessibility audit of the newly constructed Birendranagar Municipality building in Surkhet has found that most structures are accessible, while recommending improvements to signage, ramps, tactile indicators and parking facilities to ensure equal access for people with disabilities.

The audit was conducted on Wednesday under the Local Government Strengthening project, implemented with support from The Asia Foundation and organized by the National Federation of the Disabled-Nepal (NFDN).

The assessment examined the building’s design, structural features and access routes from the main entrance to executive offices to determine whether people with different disabilities could enter the premises, move around safely and obtain municipal services independently and with dignity.
