Atletico Madrid travel to the Mendizorroza on Saturday afternoon seeking their fourth consecutive victory in all competitions as they face struggling Deportivo Alaves.

Diego Simeone’s side enter Matchday 8 looking to apply immediate pressure on the La Liga summit.

The visitors welcome back striker Julian Alvarez to the starting lineup alongside Antoine Griezmann, while Luis Garcia Plaza’s hosts aim to snap a three-match losing slump.

Alaves Team News And Injury Updates

Alaves have lost three straight, but their underlying home numbers tell a completely different story.

Luis Garcia Plaza sets his team up to turn home matches into suffocating physical battles.

They rank near the top of the league in aerial duels and direct crossing volume.

With veteran Kike Garcia pinning centre-backs, Alaves thrive on ugly second balls and set pieces.

If Atletico fail to match their physical aggression early, an upset brews quickly in Vitoria.
