US President Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 31%, while Democrats have extended their lead over Republicans to 12 percentage points ahead of the November 3 congressional elections, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
The survey found that 47% of registered voters would support Democratic candidates if congressional elections were held today, compared with 35% backing Republicans. The findings suggest growing electoral challenges for Trump’s party amid concerns over the economy and rising fuel prices.
Democrats Widen Lead Ahead Of US Midterm Elections
The latest poll showed a five-point increase in the Democrats’ advantage compared with the previous survey, when they led Republicans by seven points. A strong performance could help Democrats win control of the House of Representatives or the Senate. Either outcome would limit the administration’s ability to advance its legislative agenda during the final two years of Trump’s term.
