The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) led by Mayawati, has intensified its preparations for the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, planning the selection of candidates for around 250 constituencies by November 15. The party has apparently identified potential candidates for nearly 100 seats and is simultaneously working to strengthen its grassroots network in an effort to reclaim lost political ground in the state.
Alongside the candidate selection process, the BSP is focusing on revitalising its organisational structure and expanding its outreach beyond its traditional Dalit support base. Although the party has identified aspirants for around 100 constituencies through internal deliberations and workers’ conventions, an official list of candidates is yet to be announced. According to party sources, Mayawati has been holding meetings with potential candidates at her residence, while constituency-level conventions are being organised after assessing the suitability of potential candidates.
The exercise forms part of a wider organisational strategy to prepare the party for the electoral contest. National coordinator Akash Anand, along with emerging young leaders such as Prince Yukesh Singh, has been participating in grassroots planning and review meetings. Through these initiatives, the BSP leadership is seeking to strengthen its cadre, improve coordination among local units and revive the party’s presence across Uttar Pradesh.
