India suffered a disappointing start to the BWF Denmark Open 2026 as Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, Ayush Shetty and Unnati Hooda all exited the BWF Super 750 tournament in the opening round.
The fifth-seeded men’s doubles pair of Satwik and Chirag went down fighting against China’s He Jiting and Ren Xiangyu, losing 21-12, 15-21, 19-21 in the Round of 32. The defeat was their first against the Chinese pair.
After comfortably taking the opening game, the Indians lost momentum as He and Ren fought back to level the match. The decider remained a nail-biting affair, but the Chinese pair edged ahead to seal the match 21-19.

India’s Ayush Shetty also bowed out in the men’s singles after losing to Indonesia’s Alwi Farhan, the world No. 10, in three games.
Ayush lost the opening game 11-21 but responded strongly in the second, winning 21-13 to force a decider. However, Farhan regained control in the final game and won 21-10 to advance to the next round.
