Rain and thunderstorms swept across Delhi-NCR on Thursday, October 15, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue an orange alert for intense showers, lightning and strong winds. The unsettled weather brought temporary relief from warmer conditions, while commuters faced the possibility of reduced visibility and waterlogging.
The weather department warned that some areas could experience winds of 40-50 kmph, with gusts reaching 60 kmph. Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad may also witness showers, although rainfall intensity could differ across the region.
Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 23.3 degrees Celsius, 3.7 degrees above normal. The maximum temperature is expected to remain around 29 degrees Celsius.

The change in weather is associated with a western disturbance, a weather system that can trigger rainfall and thunderstorms across northern India. These systems can influence weather conditions even after the southwest monsoon has withdrawn, bringing cloud cover, gusty winds and intermittent showers.
