Delhi Protest Latest Live News: The arrest of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das and national spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka, along with other party members, by Delhi Police has once again raised the issue of accessing protest venues in the national capital. This happened on Tuesday when CJP party members tried to enter the venue called Jantar Mantar. As per reports published by PTI, CJP party members were arrested when some of them went inside the closed gates of the venue.

Video footage posted by Ranka on social media website X depicts him and Das breaking the locks and gaining entry into the site prior to any intervention from the police officials. At least 12 persons were said to be a part of the group, though the actual number of those arrested could not be independently verified from the given source.

The persons were holding the national flag and shouting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” while entering the site. In his statement, Das announced that the group was arrested after entering Jantar Mantar. Ranka also shared the slogan “Hands Off Jantar Mantar,” drawing attention to the restrictions surrounding access to the protest site.

According to the CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, people holding the national flag were allowed into the building even before they were taken into custody by the police. The removal of Jantar Mantar’s designation as a protest place, according to him, would not help prevent such protests but could lead to other protests taking place in other parts of India while, Dipke criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that it was part of his anxiety over protests.
