Lakshya Sen bowed out of the Denmark Open 2026 in the opening round after losing to Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen in a closely contested three-game match on Tuesday. The Indian shuttler went down 18-21, 21-13, 15-21 in a contest lasting 63 minutes. The defeat adds to a difficult stretch for Sen, who also exited the men’s singles event in the second round at the Asian Games after losing to Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew. He had earlier suffered a second-round defeat to American Garret Tan at the BWF World Championships in August.
Sen started the match competitively, leading 18-15 in the opening game before Chen produced a six-point run to take it 21-18. The Indian responded strongly in the second game, building a commanding 18-7 advantage and winning 21-13 to force a decider. However, Chen took control in the final game and opened up a 17-7 lead. Sen attempted a late comeback, narrowing the gap to 19-15, but the Chinese Taipei shuttler held on to close out the match and secure his place in the next round.
