Donald Trump Latest News: A campaign appearance meant to energise Republican voters has taken an unusual turn after US President Donald Trump’s comments about Ohio Senator Jon Husted’s physique became a talking point among the party’s own leaders. At a gathering in western Ohio on Sunday, October 18, Husted acknowledged the remarks with humour as Republicans assembled to rally support ahead of the November midterm elections.
Trump has praised the senator’s muscular build, recalling his college football career and describing several of these physical features during a rally in northern Kentucky a day earlier.
The comments drew laughter at the Ohio event, where fellow Republicans mocked the praise for Husted’s political work while keeping attention on his contest against Democrat Sherrod Brown.

Husted addressed the president’s remarks at the Darke County GOP hog roast in western Ohio, where around 300 people gathered for the party event. Rather than ignore the attention, the senator referred to Trump’s comments about his athletic background and appearance.
“I know the president’s been talking about me as a football player and a few other things these days,” Husted said to knowing laughs at the Darke County GOP hog roast, where a crowd of about 300 dined on cuts of pig barbecued just outside.
The remarks followed Trump’s appearance at a rally in northern Kentucky on Saturday. The president spoke about Husted’s physical build and his experience as a college football player, drawing attention to the senator’s shoulders, hands, feet and jawline.
“I examined his ass, and then I looked at his shoulders. I looked at his feet. I looked at his hand. I looked at his jawline,” Trump said. “I then patted him on the shoulder, and it was like a piece of steel. I’m still recovering.”
The comments added another unusual moment to Trump’s campaign appearances as Republicans try to attract voters before the November elections. Reports on the remarks have also highlighted the president’s habit of commenting on the appearance of political allies and opponents.
