President Emmanuel Macron of France has turned down the resignation request made by Interior Minister Laurent Nunez as a result of nationwide riots that occurred over the weekend. This was stated on Monday, October 19, 2026, at the French presidential office, Elysee Palace.

President Macron asked Minister Nunez to stay in his post so that the chain of command among police and security units would be sustained.
