Marathi actor Lalit Prabhakar is stepping outside his familiar screen persona with Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam. Known for his charming screen presence and romantic roles, the actor is set to portray Ajmal Kasab. Kasab was the lone terrorist captured alive during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. The casting has sparked curiosity, primarily because of the striking contrast between Prabhakar’s established image and the character he plays.

Helmed by Avinash Arun, the film stars Rajkummar Rao as special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam and revisits the legal battle surrounding one of India’s darkest chapters. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on October 16.

Why Lalit Prabhakar Said Yes to Playing Ajmal Kasab

In an interview with ETimes published in June 2026, Prabhakar revealed that he landed the role after receiving a call for an audition. He credited the filmmakers for looking beyond his established image and visualising him in a part he had never previously considered.
