THIMPHU: A regional network bringing together yak and chauri farmers from Nepal, Bhutan and India will be formally launched during the ninth Royal Highland Festival in Bhutan to strengthen cooperation on shared challenges facing high-altitude livestock farming.
According to the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), the Himalayan Yak Farmers’ Network will be the first regional platform dedicated exclusively to yak-herding communities. It will promote knowledge sharing, joint advocacy, capacity building and cross-border cooperation, with its secretariat based in Bhutan.
