Cristiano Ronaldo has been handed a 30-day suspension and a €255 fine by the Portuguese Football Federation after reportedly leaving the national team camp without permission. The federation’s disciplinary council upheld the charge against the 41-year-old forward in full, imposing the punishment following a reported disagreement with head coach Jorge Jesus over his role in the squad. While the suspension could keep Ronaldo away from international duty for a month, the financial penalty is relatively small compared with his earnings at Saudi club Al Nassr.
According to reports, Ronaldo earns a fixed annual salary of around €208.4 million at Al Nassr, which works out to approximately €6.61 per second. At that rate, the €255 fine would amount to less than a minute of his estimated earnings—around 39 seconds, to be precise. The figure puts the modest size of the penalty into perspective, given the Portuguese superstar’s reported annual income and status among football’s highest-paid players.
