The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) flagged online messages claiming ‘reservoirs will dry up by the end of November’ as ‘false’ news. It stated that the message circulating widely on WhatsApp and social media was not issued by the HMWS&SB.
“Projections indicate that by the end of this November, most of the reservoirs will run dry, which could lead to severely limited or no water supply in Hyderabad,” the message forwarded on social media platforms read, which was attached to a post on HMWS&SB’s handle on X to issue the clarification.
It added the Board’s official directions banning use of hose pipes for washing vehicles, ramps or roads. Opt only dry sweeping for daily maintenance, and fix household leaks immediately.
“The information mentioned in that message regarding water storage in reservoirs and supply conditions is not official. We urge the public not to believe unverified messages that come in the name of Jalmandali and not to forward them to others. Information on water supply and conservation should be obtained only through Jalmandali’s official announcements and information channels,” as per the Board’s post on X.
