Iga Swiatek surpassed Serena Williams on the all-time list of match wins at WTA 1000 tournaments after defeating Magdalena Frech 6-2, 6-1 at the Dongfeng Voyah Wuhan Open 2026 on Wednesday, October 14. The Polish star secured her 149th victory at the WTA 1000 level, moving ahead of Williams, who finished her career with 148 wins in the category since its introduction in 2009. The victory also marked Swiatek’s 40th win of the 2026 season, extending her remarkable consistency to five consecutive years with at least 40 victories. After recovering from an early setback, the six-time Grand Slam champion dominated her compatriot to reach the round of 16 in Wuhan.
