Residents say the water crisis has worsened over the past several months despite repeated representations to the Kerala Water Authority.

Tail-end areas in Kochi continue to face severe water scarcity, with residents preparing to protest if the situation persists. The situation has worsened over the past several months, and there has been no resolution despite residents submitting representations to the Kerala Water Authority (KWA), according to residents.

K.A. Suresh Babu, a resident of Valappilkadavu Road in Division 47, said that the area had been facing water shortage for the past two years, with the situation worsening in recent months.

“Now, we are relying on private tankers. Every week we spend between ₹800 and ₹1,000 for water from tankers. Over 100 houses have been affected,” Mr. Suresh Babu said, adding that residents would launch an agitation if the situation persisted.

K.S. Sankaranarayanan, secretary of the Mukkottil Temple Road Residents Association in Poonithura, said the only time the area received a consistent water supply was in the run-up to the elections. “During the last Assembly elections, there was no disruption at all. This implies that water can be supplied without hindrance,” he added.
