Commissioner of Commercial Taxes S. Nagarajan on Wednesday issued a circular renaming roving squads as flying squads and said the squads will be stationed at the office of the Joint Commissioner (Intelligence) and will intercept vehicles based only on the instruction of the Joint Commissioner.

The Joint Commissioner will have to say in writing the specific intelligence input available for such an action.

“This is a request from the MSMEs pending since the introduction of GST, and the change will benefit the MSMEs immensely. The Coimbatore District Small Industries Association [CODISSIA] welcomes this announcement by the Tamil Nadu government and is thankful to the Commissioner for issuing this direction with immediate effect. This move will increase the revenue for the government,” said V. Rangaswamy, president of CODISSIA.
