Holger Rune has withdrawn from the ATP Brussels Open 2026 after suffering a back problem, with the Danish tennis player saying scans showed no serious injury and that he needs two to three days of rest.

“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to play in Brussels as planned. My back has seized up, but fortunately, scans have confirmed that it’s nothing serious. So 2-3 days rest. Just really annoying and unfortunate timing,” Rune wrote in an update.

The withdrawal comes as the former world No. 4 continues his return to competitive tennis after spending almost a year out with an Achilles tendon injury. Rune had been scheduled to compete in Brussels after receiving a wildcard for the tournament, which runs from October 19 to 25.
