KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has said that Nepal and India have agreed to increase their cross-border electricity transfer capacity for both imports and exports.

Speaking at a press conference at the ministry on Wednesday to highlight its achievements over the past six months, Shrestha said policy arrangements to allow the private sector to engage in electricity trading were in the final stages.

He said the government aims to make the energy sector a foundation for the country’s economic development.
