The losses due to the drought in Karnataka are estimated to be in the range of ₹60,000 crore to ₹70,000 crore, according to Deputy Chief Minister G. Parameshwara.
Mr. Parameshwara, who also holds the Revenue portfolio, told presspersons after the Cabinet meeting that the process of loss estimation was yet to be completed. However, the preliminary estimates had indicated such massive devastation.
He pointed out that the State had already submitted two memoranda to the Centre seeking a total drought assistance of about ₹46,000 crore.
