By Santosh Dahit, Dang, Oct. 14: Paddy fields in Pachurkha village, about five kilometres west of Ghorahi Bazaar, are now dotted with swaying rice stalks. Amid these fields, traditionally used for rice and cash crops, jujube plants are growing well, with some already beginning to flower. Although jujubes are commonly regarded as an ordinary fruit in rural communities, their cultivation on a commercial scale has become a new venture for local farmers.

Sudhir Kumar Regmi, who returned to Nepal after spending five years in the United Kingdom, has started commercial jujube farming by registering Baddaj Farm in Pachurkha, Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City-17. With the aim of pursuing an agricultural business that differs from traditional farming and offers market potential, he has expanded jujube cultivation across four bighas of land.
