Russia-Ukraine War Latest News:  Russia’s president Vladimir Putin is said to have suggested a trilateral meeting of him with the presidents of US and China to explore means of resolving the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. The suggestion for the meeting could enhance Russia’s involvement in the international diplomatic process, but there are doubts about the participation of Ukraine in negotiations about its future.

According to an article in The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), the suggestion for the meeting was made during a phone conversation between Putin and Trump on October 9. The meeting, according to Russia, should take place alongside the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit due to happen in Shenzhen, China, on November 18–19.

Nevertheless, the meeting has not been confirmed yet, and the agenda of the meeting is not known. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the newspaper that it was still unclear whether the meeting will take place and what it will be about.

“There is still no clarity at all about the meeting or the agenda for it,” he said, further stating that all the three parties were aware of the possibility of such a meeting.

According to a senior US official quoted by the paper, President Trump had not accepted the proposal, though he could agree to it since he was keen on resolving the situation. There has been no official confirmation from either Washington or Beijing of the proposed summit.
