The Srisailam Dam Project earned a place in the World Book of Records for its remarkable engineering features and extraordinary resilience. It is the first project in Indian to achieve this distinction, said M. Venugopal Reddy, Superintending Engineer of Srisailam Project.

The Srisailam Project, whose construction began in 1960 and was completed in 1980, serves both the irrigation and hydel power generation purpose. Mr. Venugopal Reddy attributed the award to the project’s engineering features, which includes the massive crest gates measuring 60x55 feet, a unique engineering unmatched by any other project in South Asia.
