Two terrorists were killed in an ongoing anti-infiltration operation along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday, after security forces detected suspected movement in the strategically sensitive Jumagund area of the Keran sector. The operation began in the early hours of the morning in the Dhanush Point area of Shalabatto Nar, near Jumagund, when troops of the 21 Grenadiers challenged suspected infiltrators. An exchange of fire followed, leading to the reported killing of two terrorists. Security forces continued search operations in the area to rule out the presence of additional infiltrators.
The operation comes amid heightened vigilance along the LoC following intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists in training camps in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), with security agencies remaining alert to possible infiltration attempts into Jammu and Kashmir. Security agencies have been monitoring suspected launch pads and training facilities across the LoC, where terrorists are believed to receive training before attempting to cross into Indian territory. Such intelligence inputs prompt security forces to strengthen surveillance, assess vulnerable infiltration routes and maintain close coordination among the Army and other security agencies.
