Marvel’s VisionQuest has started connecting the loose ends left behind by WandaVision. It brings Paul Bettany’s Vision back into the spotlight alongside James Spader’s Ultron. The first two episodes introduce a mysterious bounty hunter, a young man with a possible connection to Vision’s family, and a dangerous situation that forces Vision to confront his past. The premiere also features the return of familiar artificial intelligence characters, including J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y. and E.D.I.T.H.

Episode 1, titled No Strings, establishes Vision’s isolated life, while Episode 2, titled Theseus, takes the story towards a rescue mission with potentially devastating consequences. The second episode ends with a major sacrifice and leaves several questions unanswered about Vision’s future, Tommy Shepherd’s identity and Ultron’s intentions.

VisionQuest Episode 1 Recap: What Happens In No Strings?

The first episode introduces White Vision, who is living under the name Sherwood Ellis in Edinburgh, Scotland. Following the events of WandaVision, he has the memories of the original Vision but struggles to connect emotionally with them. He remembers Wanda Maximoff and their life together, yet those memories feel more like scenes from a film than experiences he has personally lived.

Vision works at a local pub and tries to maintain an ordinary existence. However, his real world is only one part of his life. Inside his mind, he has created a space called the Mind Place, where artificial intelligence programmes appear as human companions.

These include J.A.R.V.I.S., who manages security, F.R.I.D.A.Y., who helps with social interactions, and E.D.I.T.H., who handles recreation and weapons. The robotic helpers D.U.M.E. and U are also part of this digital environment.

Another familiar character is hiding inside Vision’s mind. Ultron, played by James Spader, remains confined to the attic. The former Avengers villain constantly challenges Vision’s decision to isolate himself, arguing that he cannot remain hidden forever.

Ultron Reveals Vision’s Location To The Paladin

Vision’s quiet existence comes to an end when armed attackers storm the pub. During the assault, Fiona Guthrie, the pub’s owner, is killed. Vision fights back against the attackers and escapes, but the incident makes it clear that someone is deliberately hunting him.

The person behind the operation is a bounty hunter known as the Paladin, played by Todd Stashwick. The Paladin is investigating Vision and appears to have access to information connected to his past.

Vision eventually discovers that Ultron deliberately exposed his location. Ultron explains that someone has placed a bounty on Vision and believes that the attack will force his fellow artificial being to stop hiding.

Meanwhile, the Paladin’s investigation leads him to Tommy Shepherd in London. Tommy is a young man who makes a living through scams with his partner, Lisa. However, he experiences strange flashes of memories involving Wanda, Vision and events in Westview.

The episode ends with Vision receiving a message from the Paladin, who claims to have his son. Ultron reacts with disturbing amusement, congratulating Vision on the revelation.

The cliffhanger raises an important question: could Tommy be connected to one of the children Wanda and Vision had in WandaVision?

VisionQuest Episode 2 Recap: What Happens In Theseus?

Episode 2 provides more information about Tommy’s unusual abilities and his connection to Vision. The story briefly travels back to an incident a year earlier, when Tommy was being taken to a psychiatric facility called Saint Mabyn’s.
