The 2026 WNBA Finals begin Saturday with something neither franchise has experienced before: a shot at its first championship.

The Golden State Valkyries host the Atlanta Dream at Chase Center, with both teams arriving after sweeping their semifinal opponents.

But Game 1 offers more than a fresh championship matchup. It could establish which team controls the pace, rebounding battle and defensive matchups throughout this best-of-seven series.

What Time Is Valkyries vs Dream Game 1?

Game 1 tips off Saturday, October 17, at 3:30 p.m. ET (12:30 p.m. PT) in San Francisco.

NBC will televise the opener nationally, while Peacock provides live streaming for US viewers.

Golden State holds home-court advantage, hosting Games 1, 2, 5 and 7 if the series extends that far.

That makes Atlanta’s opening assignment particularly important. Stealing either of the first two games would immediately shift the pressure onto the Valkyries.
