8th Pay Commission Latest News: Bengaluru Consultations Begin; Check Salary, Pension, DA Revision and Old Pension Scheme Demands

8th Pay Commission enters an important stage as it holds consultations for two days in Bengaluru on October 7 and 8, 2026. In this respect, the Commission consults the employee organizations, pensioners’ groups, associations, and other stakeholders regarding their opinions on salaries, pensions, allowances, and conditions of service. The next round of consultation will take place in Mumbai on October 22 and 23.

The Commission was formed on November 3, 2025, and it has 18 months to come up with its recommendations. Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai is the Chairperson of the Commission, while Prof. Pulak Ghosh is its part-time member, and Pankaj Jain is the Member-Secretary of the Commission.

8th Pay Commission Latest News: ₹69,000 Minimum Pay and 3.833 Fitment Factor Demand

Salary revision continues to be one of the most pressing problems for the Commission. While the NC-JCM Staff Side has demanded a fitment factor of 3.833 and a minimum basic salary of ₹69,000, the existing minimum basic salary is ₹18,000 under the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission. These are demands put forward by the employees and have yet to be accepted by the government or the Commission. Employee organisations have demanded changes in various allowances and increments as well.
