A routine afternoon walk turned into a critical rescue mission when a pedestrian discovered a stack of completely sealed plastic boxes abandoned in a local alleyway. Upon hearing faint noises emanating from the discarded containers, the man carefully opened them to find a total of 26 cats and kittens crammed tightly inside, the dodo reported.

The animals, which were severely deprived of oxygen due to the heavy tape sealing their makeshift prisons, were immediately transported to a local animal welfare charity for emergency veterinary intervention. The harrowing discovery highlights a troubling trend of animal abandonment, whilst also showcasing the profound impact of a vigilant passerby who ultimately saved the vulnerable felines from suffocation.

The finder said that when he came across them, many were lethargic and appeared to be struggling to breathe in the boxes, Paul Nijjar, an animal rescue officer with the RSPCA, said in a press release.
