ASOS Hack Alert News: ASOS shares dropped significantly at the London Stock Exchange on Tuesday after thousands of customers received an app notification that the online clothing retailer had been hacked and its data stolen.
The notification, titled “ASOS HACKED”, instructed customers to go to a Telegram page where a threat to leak the data was made. This news caused fears about the safety of customers’ data and led to the fall of ASOS share prices by 11% and more. As reported by Reuters, the stock price decrease was linked to media reports of the hack that could not be independently verified.
ASOS Hack Alert: What Did the Notification Say?
The customers that received this notification were greeted by a message that seems to be addressed to ASOS’ data protection officer and its IT department. This message stated,“Dear ASOS DPO [Data Protection Officer] and IT, we have fully compromised the Snowflake instance.”

In another report, it was revealed that this notification pointed out users to Telegram, threatening that if ASOS does not interact with the ones sending the message, this data will be released.
The reason why this message appeared on the customers’ phones caused worry because it means that the sender of the message might have gained access to systems through which ASOS can send notifications through its app.
There is no official statement confirming whether ASOS had a data breach or their customer’s data were stolen.
ASOS Shares: Why Did the Stock Fall Nearly 12%?
This cyber attack had an immediate effect on investors’ perception of the company. ASOS shares saw a fall by over 11% on Tuesday. According to some market analysts, ASOS shares fell by up to 13.2%.
