Actor Imran Khan has been asked to leave India by October 28 following his participation in a protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in Mumbai. The actor is best known for films such as Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na and Delhi Belly. The development has brought the actor’s citizenship status and the rules governing Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders into focus.

According to reports, the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) issued the notice after a complaint alleged that Imran Khan had violated the law by participating in the demonstration.

The controversy began following a protest held at Mumbai’s August Kranti Maidan on October 10. The demonstration was organised in support of the satirical political group Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). Demonstrators called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, and they raised concerns related to electoral processes.
