Kathmandu, Oct. 13: A week-long art exhibition titled ‘Canvas Ma Parijat’ began at the Parijat Memorial Centre in Mhaipi on Friday.
The exhibition features paintings inspired by the literary works of Parijat, a prominent figure in Nepali literature.
Inaugurating the exhibition, former Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts Naradamani Hartamchhali said the artists had taken a new approach by creating paintings based on Parijat’s writings.
He said that interpreting another creator’s work through art helped show the differences in how writers and artists understand and express ideas.
Artist Sauraganga Darshandhari, who is taking part in the exhibition, said creating art based on another person’s work was challenging but helped artists understand the depth of their ideas and emotions.
She said the artists had done justice to Parijat’s works through colours and lines.
