KATHMANDU: The Chitwan National Park has stepped up security for the festive season, mobilizing more than 1,200 personnel and deploying K9 teams, or specially trained sniffer dogs, to monitor suspicious locations and help prevent wildlife poaching.

According to Avinash Thapa Magar, the park’s information officer, increased movement of unfamiliar people during festivals could create opportunities for poaching, prompting authorities to heighten vigilance.
