Donald Trump News: A federal court has ruled that the White House must allow journalists from CNN, MS Now and Politico to cover events. It is an extension of a previous order that granted a 14 day reprieve to all 3. President Trump previously tried to impose a ban on these news outlets, citing bias.

US District Judge Timothy Kelly issued a preliminary injunction maintaining the restrictions on the administration as the lawsuit proceeds. The judge determined that the three news organisations were likely to prevail on their constitutional claims, including assertions that the ban infringed on free-speech protections and due process rights under the first and fifth amendment.

The First Amendment safeguards freedom of speech and the press, while the Fifth Amendment ensures due process against unjust government action. The judge also challenged the administration’s national security rationale, concluding that the arguments offered did not sufficiently justify revoking the journalists’ access.
