Donald Trump News: US President to Use Super PAC to Pay for Promotional Ads Instead of Taxpayer Funds After Backlash

Earlier this month, the Republican Party garnered backlash after it came to light that taxpayer funds were used to finance a controversial ad campaign. Now, US President Donald Trump has announced that his MAGA Inc will provide the funds for the promotion. It comes ahead of the upcoming midterm elections next month.

Donald Trump News: Trump’s Announcement

Trump made the announcement on October 5 in a post on Truth Social. He stated that taxpayer funds would no longer cover the advertisements, and that he would instead draw on money raised for MAGA Inc., his political action committee.

He called the advertisements “a positive promotion for our Great U.S.A.” and contended that funding such advertising with government money was a common practice. President Trump also slammed the criticism the ads received from “the radical left”.

Several lawmakers and ethics experts questioned the use of taxpayer money for the Trump administration’s television ads. Senator John Thune from South Dakota said that “I like the message, but it shouldn’t be paid for with taxpayer dollars”.
