Folk, dohori academy convention to be held in Madhes

By Ajay Shah, Gaushala (Mahottari), Oct. 4:  The ninth National Convention and Silver Jubilee-2083 of the National Folk and Dohori Song Academy of Nepal is to be held in Madhes Province for the first time. The convention will be held from October 8 to 10 at the Gauridanda Open Ground in Bardibas, Mahottari.

Around 1,500 delegates and observers from across the country will participate in the convention, said Rita Thapa Magar, central chairperson of the academy. Speaking at a press conference organised in Bardibas on Friday, she said the convention was being organised to review the academy’s 25-year institutional journey and determine its future direction.

The convention will be held under the slogan ‘Preservation of Folk Culture, Respect for Creators, Promotion of New Talent’. Discussions will be  held on the institution’s policies, programmes and future plans, along  with the election of a new leadership team.
