France Protests Update: The student led protests in France  have caused widespread disruptions to nearly 1800 schools. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has directed his ministers to listen to the demands of the protesting students. Meanwhile, France’s main human rights body has urged the government to engage peacefully with the protestors.

Today marks the biggest day of the student led protests in France as parents and teachers joined the pupils for demonstrations in over 30 cities. The largest demonstration was seen in the national capital Paris. According to the country’s High School Students Union, at least 1800 schools have either been blockaded or closed for the day. It is important to note that the figure has not been confirmed by France’s government. 

France Protests Update: Statement From France’s National Consultative Commission on Human Rights 

The National Consultative Commission on Human Rights (CNCDH), France’s main human rights body has released a statement on the protests and called for the use of restraint.
