Government to crack down on ‘ghost faculty’ at medical colleges

KATHMANDU: The government is preparing to take strict action against irregularities in the medical education sector, including the use of so-called “ghost faculty” who appear as faculty members only during inspections of medical colleges, according to information made public by the secretariat of Minister Sasmit Pokharel of the Ministry of Education and Sports.

Acting on the direction of Minister Pokharel, relevant government and regulatory agencies are preparing to closely monitor faculty working at medical colleges across the country. The review will cover their appointments, regular attendance, teaching responsibilities, hospital services and documents submitted during inspections.
