KATHMANDU: Former King Gyanendra Shah has announced that he will celebrate this year’s Bada Dashain festival in a simple manner.

The communication secretariat at Nirmal Niwas issued a notice on Sunday stating that there will be no program for providing tika and jamara to the public this year.

According to the secretariat, the decision follows the significant loss of life and property caused by devastating floods triggered by landslides in August and continuous heavy rainfall in September.
