INDIA Bloc Protest Latest News: There was a further escalation of the political fight between the Opposition and the Election Commission on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, where the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi headed the INDIA bloc members of parliament in a march from Parliament to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The Opposition is insisting on the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, scrapping the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls and restoring the names of voters who have allegedly been removed unfairly.
This came just a day after the Supreme Court revealed that it did not authorize any alterations in connection with Form 6, the prescribed form used for voter registration. The court gave notices to the Centre and ECI and announced that it will look at the records to determine how these changes were made.
