Former NBA guard Delonte West has sparked fresh social media discussion after delivering a cryptic response to a question about an old, unverified rumor involving LeBron James’ mother, Gloria James.
The exchange occurred during the Brand Risk 16 press conference, where West appeared ahead of his scheduled boxing match against former NBA player Michael Beasley.
A clip of the unexpected question and West’s brief answer has since circulated across social media, bringing a controversial story from the 2010 NBA playoffs back into the spotlight.

What Did Delonte West Say In The Viral Video?
During the press conference, comedian Supa Hot Fire directly asked West whether he had ever been involved in a sexual relationship with Gloria James.
West smiled and responded:
“A gentleman never tells.”
The exchange quickly attracted attention because West did not repeat his previous denial of the allegation.
However, his remark does not establish that the alleged relationship occurred. The decades-old rumor remains unsubstantiated, and West explicitly denied it in the past.
Where Did The LeBron James And Delonte West Rumor Originate?
The speculation dates back to 2010, when West and James were teammates with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Cleveland entered the Eastern Conference playoffs after winning 61 regular season games but suffered a disappointing second-round elimination against the Boston Celtics.
An internet rumor subsequently alleged that West had been romantically involved with Gloria James, with some online discussions attempting to connect the story to Cleveland’s playoff collapse and LeBron’s eventual departure for Miami.
No credible public evidence established those claims.
