Liglige race resumes

Gorkha, Oct. 5: The historic Liglige race, which had been suspended for two years, will resume this year.

A multiparty meeting organised by Palungtar Municipality decided to hold the 12th Liglige race competition on October 15. The municipality’s executive meeting had also previously decided to continue the competition, according to Mayor Bibas Chintan.

Mayor Chintan said the event would be conducted in a well-organised manner in coordination with all stakeholders.

A seven-member facilitation committee has been formed to make preparations, management and coordination for the competition effective. The committee will coordinate with the relevant government agencies and stakeholders and oversee preparations and management.
