Michael Douglas has revealed that he had a romantic relationship with Kathleen Turner while the two were filming Romancing the Stone in Mexico in 1984. The actor has written about the relationship in his new memoir One Helluva Ride where he revealed that the two had kept it private for four decades.
At the time, Douglas was separated from his then-wife Diandra Douglas, although they were still legally married. The couple have a son, Cameron.
Douglas was also a producer on Romancing the Stone in which he played adventurer Jack Colton opposite Turner, who played romance novelist Joan Wilder. Before Turner was cast, Douglas had wanted Debra Winger for the role. But after meeting Turner over lunch to discuss the part, he decided to cast the then-rising actress.
