Rajkummar Rao is no stranger to physically disappearing into his characters, but his transformation for Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam may be among his most striking yet. The actor underwent a major physical change to play the veteran public prosecutor where he reportedly gainied around 9 to 10 kilograms, changed his hairline and adopted a heavier appearance for the role.

Nikam is particularly known for prosecuting the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks case, including the trial of Ajmal Kasab.

The transformation first caught public attention when Rao appeared with a noticeably fuller face, thinner hair and a different overall look. While fans speculated about the sudden change, the actor clarified that it was all part of his preparation for Prahaar.

“For playing Nikam, I gained around nine-ten kilos because I felt the physicality was important. I was eating things I normally wouldn’t eat, including pizzas, sweets, aloo parathas and biryani,” Rao said.

The actor had previously revealed the same transformation on social media after photographs of his changed appearance sparked considerable discussion online. Rao explained that the look was specifically for his Ujjwal Nikam biopic and that he preferred physically changing himself instead of relying on prosthetics wherever possible.
