Canadian singer-songwriter Sass Jordan has died at the age of 65. The musician, who built a successful career in rock and blues and later became a familiar television face as a judge on Canadian Idol, died on October 2.

According to The Guardian, a statement was shared on social media said she died “surrounded by her loving family … She remains in our hearts, an inimitable force of nature. An irreplaceable being of light and joy!

Born Sarah “Sass” Jordan on December 23, 1960, Jordan was born in Birmingham, England. She moved to Montreal, Canada, with her family when she was three years old and grew up there.
