Traditional dances mark Karam festival

By Shashidhar Parajuli, Biratnagar, Oct 11: The Karam Puja, also known as the Karma Dharma festival, an important celebration of the Jhangad community, was observed with a special programme at Banlauri in Biratnagar-4, Ikrahi, on Saturday.

The festival is celebrated at Banlauri every year to preserve and promote the languages, cultures and festivals of indigenous nationalities. Members of the Jhangad community from Gadhi Rural Municipality in Sunsari and Katahari Rural Municipality in Morang arrived in Biratnagar on Saturday with traditional tableaux to participate in the programme.
