US-Israel-Iran War Latest Live News: The diplomatic channel between Iran and the United States remains open, but the two sides continue to disagree over what must happen first to ease the conflict.  Tehran says the immediate priority is the Strait of Hormuz, while Washington has continued to focus heavily on the nuclear issues.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Sunday that the United States had recently sent proposals through a mediator. However, he warned that Tehran would not change its position simply because of statements or social media posts from American leaders.

Ghalibaf also made clear that Iran will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz until Washington meets seven conditions linked to a June memorandum of understanding. The comments came as mediators continued efforts to bridge the gap between Tehran and Washington and prevent the conflict from moving toward another major escalation.

The Strait of Hormuz has become one of the biggest pressure points in the Iran-US confrontation because of its importance to global energy and shipping.

Ghalibaf said Tehran’s position on the waterway remains unchanged. He argued that Washington must move away from what Iran sees as demands imposed without reciprocal steps.

Iran’s parliament speaker said Washington “must understand that the period of dragging out the (diplomatic) process and dictating one-sided demands is over”.

He also rejected the idea that Iran would alter its strategy based on statements made by American officials.

Iran has linked the reopening of the waterway to seven conditions contained in what it describes as the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. Tehran had previously proposed a seven-day process that could restore normal maritime movement if the required steps were taken.

The seven conditions themselves have not been publicly detailed in the latest statements from Ghalibaf.
