Viking FK are set to welcome Bayern Munich to the Lyse Arena for a Matchday 2 clash in the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League. The Norwegian champions head into the contest on the back of a 2-0 away victory over SK Brann, but they will be looking to recover from a 3-1 defeat to Stuttgart in their European opener. Viking will have to cope without several injured players, including strikers Veton Berisha and Nicholas D’Agostino, while Joe Bell is available to feature in midfield. Playing at home could offer them an advantage, but containing Bayern’s attack will be a major challenge.
Bayern, meanwhile, arrive in Norway aiming to respond after being held to a 2-2 draw by Augsburg in the Bundesliga. Vincent Kompany’s side began their Champions League campaign emphatically with a 5-0 win over Bodø/Glimt and will look to carry that attacking momentum into this fixture. Jamal Musiala is unavailable through injury, while Manuel Neuer is on the bench, leaving Jonas Urbig to start in goal. Harry Kane will lead the line, supported by Michael Olise and Luis Díaz. Viking are expected to defend compactly and look for opportunities on the counterattack, but Bayern’s high press, possession-based approach and attacking depth could make it difficult for the hosts to control the game.
