Lionel Messi’s final game for Argentina was filled with emotion, but some of the most touching scenes came away from the football itself. As Messi bid farewell to the national team after more than two decades, his wife Antonela Roccuzzo and their three sons watched on as the Argentina captain played his final match in the famous blue-and-white shirt.
Roccuzzo was in the stands at the Monumental alongside Messi’s mother, Celia Cuccittini, as Argentina defeated Benin 3-0 on Tuesday. Messi’s three sons, Thiago, Mateo and Ciro, were also part of the farewell and joined their father on the pitch during the pre-match ceremony. The family watched as Messi became visibly emotional during the national anthem before going on to produce one final memorable performance for Argentina.

Antonela has been one of the most familiar figures alongside Messi throughout his career. The couple, who have known each other since their childhood in Rosario, married in 2017 and have three sons together. Roccuzzo has regularly been present for Messi’s biggest moments, including Argentina’s Copa America and World Cup triumphs.
