Iga Swiatek continued her impressive run at the Wuhan Open, defeating Ashlyn Krueger 6-1, 6-4 to reach the quarter-finals and register her 150th career match win at WTA 1000 events. Meanwhile, Jasmine Paolini suffered a heavy defeat as Britain’s Sonay Kartal produced one of the biggest upsets of the tournament.

Swiatek needed two sets to get past Krueger, winning the opening set comfortably before facing a tougher challenge in the second. The victory took her to 150 wins at WTA 1000 tournaments, a mark reached by only seven players since the format was introduced in 2009.
