Afghanistan and Bangladesh are set to meet in a one-off Test at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi from October 9 to 13, with both sides looking to make an impact in the five-day contest. Afghanistan have appointed Rahmat Shah as captain in place of Hashmatullah Shahidi and have reshuffled their batting lineup following their previous Test against India in June, while much of their bowling combination remains unchanged. Bangladesh, meanwhile, will be led by Najmul Hossain Shanto and will aim to build on their recent performances in red-ball cricket, including a Test series victory against Pakistan and a drawn series in Australia.

Bangladesh will be without Taskin Ahmed, who has been rested, while Nahid Rana remains unavailable due to injury. Shoriful Islam is expected to play an important role in leading the pace attack as the visitors prepare for the challenge in Abu Dhabi. The match is the only Test scheduled between the two teams before they move on to an ODI tri-series featuring Zimbabwe. Although the fixture does not count towards the 2025–27 World Test Championship, it offers both teams an important opportunity to test their combinations and compete in the longer format.
